These awards are about honouring those who are making a difference and those who’ve contributed to Central’s sense of vitality.

Nominations Now Open for the Central Otago Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2008 Central Otago Awards. This is an opportunity to recognise and honour those who are making a difference in Central Otago.

There are a number of Award categories including; Business Excellence, Tourism, Excellent Customer Service and ones for Youth, Apprentices as well as a Citizens Community Service Award.  A further two categories have been added to this year’s Awards; the Brand Ambassador Award and the Pride of Workmanship Awards, which are sponsored by Rotary.

Each award category will be judged by a selection panel of eminent and impartial adjudicators.  A profile of each member of the judging panel can be downloaded from the list below.

Nomination forms can also be downloaded from the list below.  Alternatively they are available from the Council office, all Service Centres, Libraries and Information Centres.

Entries need to be submitted by 5pm on Friday 4, July.

On Thursday 25 September, all finalists and award winners will be recognised at a special Awards Ceremony. This will be about celebrating our champions and recognising those who have made a significant contribution to the vitality of this region.

Central Otago Awards Winners 2007

Excellence, passion and commitment were the distinguishing features of the winners of the 2007 Central Otago Awards announced at a special function held at Orchard Gardens on 27 June.

An enthusiastic audience helped to celebrate and honour Central Otago’s champions and the contribution they make to our district.

Central Otago District Council Mayor Malcolm Macpherson said “The Central Otago Awards are about showcasing our best.  All of our finalists here tonight are great role models. They are people making a difference.”

“As witnessed here tonight, the 2007 Central Otago Awards showcase the excellence that is being achieved throughout the district. We not only want to recognise the initiatives and celebrate their accomplishments, we want to encourage the development of future initiatives. Congratulations to tonight’s winners, and I look forward to a similar high standard of entry for the 2008 Awards.”
