Blossom Festival Liquor BanPursuant to Council’s Liquor (Control of Liquor in Public Places) Bylaw 2004, the Council has resolved to implement a Liquor Ban over the public places in Alexandra, Clyde and Cromwell townships detailed below for the period as described:
No person may:
a. Consume, bring into or possess liquor in a specified public place at a specified time.
b. Consume, bring into or possess liquor in a vehicle in a specified public place at a specified time.
For the following specified period:
Commencing Thursday, 23 September 2010 from 1900hrs and concluding at 0100hrs on Monday, 27 September 2010
In the following specified public places:
Alexandra - Alexandra township with boundaries of:
- The downstream true right bridge abutment following down the true right bank of the Clutha River taking in Frenchmans Point.
- West up onto SH8 and along SH8 to Aronui Road, around the perimeter of the Old Golf Course subdivision, along Chapman Gully, down to the Chapman Road/Earnscleugh Road intersection and out to the Clutha River.
- Following upstream on the true right of the Clutha River to a point opposite the southern end of Airport Road and the SH8 intersection.
- Across the Clutha River along a line in front of the beginning of Airport Road to Dunstan Road.
- Along Dunstan Road heading south-east towards Alexandra.
- Dunstan Road to the adjacent town belt reserve and including the cemetery.
- Town belt area bordering Dunstan Road, Ngapara Street and Samson Street to the Manuherikia River.
- Crossing the Manuherikia River and bounding the Little Valley Road 1.3km out from the bridge.
- Extending 1.6 km down Graveyard Gully Road from the Little Valley Road turnoff to the Graveyard Gully cemetery.
- From the cemetery along a line across the Manuherikia River to the Alexandra Bridge (SH8).

Clyde - Clyde township with boundaries of:
- Clutha River starting from a point in-line with the northern point of Clyde Lookout Road (Sunderland Street) to the south-east end of the Clyde recreation reserve.
- From the Clutha River at the south-eastern end of the Clyde recreation reserve area to Sunderland Street to the corner of Sunderland Street and SH8.
- Along SH8 in a north-west direction to the corner of SH8 and Coal Pit Road at the top of the Clyde Hill.
- From the corner of Coal Pit Road (at the top of the Clyde Hill) to a point in-line with the northern point of Clyde Lookout Road (Sunderland Street).
- Fruitgrowers Road, Clyde including the roadway, the Dunstan Arm Rowing Club and the other community facilities in the immediate area.

Cromwell - Cromwell township with boundaries of:
- All that land to the east of SH 6 from the SH 6/Cemetery Road intersection, along Cemetery Road.
- Then following along the southern boundary of Lake Dunstan Industrial Estate, the Council Refuse/Transfer Station to the Barry Avenue/Richards Beach Intersection.
- Across Barry Avenue in an easterly direction to the adjacent Lake Dunstan and along the lake edge to the Cromwell Bridge SH 8B.
- In a north-west direction to Lake Dunstan extending around the waters edge to the north (including McNulty Inlet) to where the lake bounds with SH 6 approximately 1km north of the McNab Road/SH 6 intersection.
- South-west along SH 6 to the intersection of Cemetery Road.

Sections 169 and 170 of the Local Government Act 2002 confer upon the police the rights of search and seizure without warrant. Further, as provided by Council Resolution, the Police may, immediately and without further notice undertake a search.
Amendment to Liquor Ban BylawOn the 5th of August 2009 Council resolved to amend the Liquor Ban for Alexandra and Clyde to include the following specified times: 10pm Christmas Eve to 7am Christmas day and 10pm New Years Eve to 7am New Years Day pursuant to section 3.2 of Council’s (Control of Liquor in Public Places) Bylaw 2004.
What it Means
That regardless of what days of the week Christmas Eve and New Years Eve fall on, they are covered under the liquor ban.
Notification Of Liquor ProhibitionPursuant to the Central Otago District Council Liquor (Control of Liquor in Public Places) Bylaw 2004, the Central Otago District Council hereby gives notice that on 30 January 2008 the Council resolved:
No person may:
a. Consume, bring into or possess liquor in a specified public place at a specified time.
b. Consume, bring into or possess liquor in a vehicle in a specified public place at a specified time.
Specified public places comprise the following areas:
Alexandra – Alexandra township with boundaries of:
