In 1998 the RTO Tourism Central Otago was formed and in 2001 the organisation took on a full time position within the CODC.

Tourism Central Otago (TCO) is the Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) for Central Otago.  It works closely with Tourism New Zealand, local and national tourism organisations to coordinate and facilitate destination management including marketing of Central Otago as a visitor destination.

TCO is funded by the CODC (from rates) and local operator subscriptions, sitting within the District Development Department of the CODC and is one of 30 RTO’s within New Zealand today.  RTO’s are recognised as the voice for the industry in that region on all things related to tourism.

Central Discovery

Central Discovery is a monthly newsletter produced by Tourism Central Otago and distributed electronically to many operators in the region currently on the tourism database. The newsletter keeps operators informed on what is happening in the tourism industry (locally and nationally) and what opportunities they can take advantage of etc. Copies (in pdf format) can be downloaded by selecting the links below.
