The Roading and Infrastructure Sub Committee meetings which were previously advertised as being held on Tuesday, 27 may have now been cancelled.
Alexandra Bike ParkThe Alexandra Bike Park and BMX track will be closed to the public on Sunday, 25 May from 1.30pm to 3.30pm for a road safety course.
Rates ReminderCouncil wishes to remind ratepayers that the last day for payment of the fourth instalment of rates is 20 May 2008.
Payments received after this day, in any of our Council offices, will be liable for a 10% penalty.
Rating Information DatabaseThe rating information database, which records all information required for setting and assessing rates, is available for inspection at the Council's offices at 1 Dunorling Street, Alexandra, 42 The Mall, Cromwell, 120 Scotland Street, Roxburgh and 15 Pery Street, Ranfurly between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
The database includes the following information relating to each rating unit:
(a) All information that relates to the rating unit that is included in the district valuation roll for the district; and
(b) All information that relates to the unit that is required to: determine the category to which the unit belongs for setting general rates; determine the category to which the unit belongs for setting targeted rates; calculate the amount of liability for a targeted rate.
No fee is payable for inspecting the rating information database but a fee is payable for being supplied with a copy of the particulars.
Any ratepayer may object to the information contained in the database on one or more of the following grounds:
(a) that a rating unit included in the district valuation roll has been omitted from the database;
(b) that information included in the district valuation roll has been omitted from, or inaccurately entered in, the database;
(c) that information included in the database, other than information entered from the district valuation roll, is incorrect;
(d) that there has been a failure to enter a lawful amendment to the district valuation roll into the database.
Objections must be lodged in writing, setting out the grounds for the objection, and forwarded to the Corporate Services Manager, Central Otago District Council,
PO Box 122, Alexandra.
Temporary Road ClosuresNotice is given that Central Otago District Council has resolved pursuant to Section 342(1)(b) of the Local Government Act 1974 and Clause 13 of the Tenth Schedule thereto to temporarily close and prohibit traffic from using the following sections of roads:
- Lake Onslow Road from Linnburn Runs Rd (Blackball) to boundary gate at Lake Onslow
- Old Dunstan Road from Linnburn Runs Rd to Poolburn Dam
- Old Dunstan Road from Patearoa Paerau Rd to Styx gate on Dunedin City Council Boundary
- Nevis Road from Commissioners Creek to Southland District Boundary
- Bridge Huts Road from Bridge 185
- Upper Manorburn Dam Road from Aston Road
during the period from 3 June 2008 to 29 September 2008 inclusive.
This prohibition shall apply to all ordinary vehicular traffic and it will be an offence for any unauthorised vehicle to use the above-described sections of road during this period. Authorised vehicles will be those belonging to NZ Police, emergency services and adjacent run holders who require access for emergency purposes.
Fire Season Status A Restricted Fire Season over the Central Otago District is now in force in the urban and rural areas.
A permit to burn in the open air must be obtained before a fire is ignited.
