Resource Consent ApplicationsThe Council has received applications for resource consent as set out below.
If you wish to make a submission on an application, you may do so by sending a written submission to the Chief Executive Officer, Central Otago District Council, 1 Dunorling Street, (PO Box 122), Alexandra, no later than 4.00pm on the date of closing of submissions.
The submission must be dated, signed by you and include the following information:
- Your name, postal address, telephone number and facsimile number (if applicable).
- Details of the application in respect of which you are making the submission, including location.
- Whether you support or oppose the application.
- Your submission, with reasons.
- The decision you wish the Council to make.
- Whether you wish to be heard in support of your submission.
A form for the making of a submission is available from any office of the Council.
The application may be viewed at the Council offices at Alexandra, Cromwell, Ranfurly and Roxburgh during normal office hours.
A copy of your submission must be served as soon as reasonably practicable on the applicant.

APPLICANT Central Otago District Council RC100199DESCRIPTION OF APPLICATION
Land use consent for the construction, operation and maintenance of a walking and cycling trail from Alexandra – Roxburgh.
The proposal is to construct a 34km end to end trail for cycling and walking between Alexandra and Roxburgh Dam along the true right of the Clutha Mata–au River.
The land comprises freehold land, Department of Conservation land, land subject to pastoral lease and Crown Land.
Detailed Route Description
The Trail will officially start at the Millennium Track car park, some 300M upstream from the bridge over the Clutha Matau-au, will make its way under the bridge and proceed into the Roxburgh Gorge. It will continue from Butchers Creek to Gorge Creek, passing on the opposite side of the river from Butchers Point and Doctors Point, then through from Gorge Creek to Shingle Creek. From Shingle Creek to Elbow Creek the trail follows close to the lake then climbs to approximately 100M in height above the lake.
Bridges
There will only be three bridge structures required on the trail, covering spans of 12 metres, 15 metres and 35 metres and being located at Butchers Creek, Gorge Creek and Shingle Creek.
Toilets
Norski vault toilets are proposed at four locations, being Butchers Creek, Gorge Creek, Herron’s Cottage and Elbow Creek.
Signs
There will be three kiosk interpretation panels – located at the start and end of the trail and the third at Doctors Point.
There will also be several smaller, horizontal interpretation boards at various points along the trail. These signs will be positioned at points of interest and will relate to the site on which they are located.
