Community Board Promotion Grants

​​​​​​​​Community Board Promotion grants are primarily for events, facilities or activities that enhance the experiences of locals and visitors alike.

Each of our four Community Boards disseminate promotions grants to groups and/or organisations in their area for local level promotional activities, including arts and cultural projects, events and heritage preservation.

 

How to Apply

Promotion grants are made to groups undertaking activities considered to benefit the community generally.
Applicants are required to show how their project/s meet the purpose and criteria of the Community Board Promotions Funding Policy and Criteria as below:

Purpose

  • Provide funding that helps meet community needs/desires for events, facilities or activities that enhance experiences of locals and visitors.
  • Provide funding that is targeted to attracting people to visit, stay, play, work or reside in the applicable community board area and district​ for the betterment of existing residents and ratepayers.
  • Supports community strategies as set out in community documents such as Community Plans, Tourism Strategy, Arts Strategy, Outdoor Recreation Strategy and Community Outcomes which have as their goal the social, environmental, economic and cultural enhancement of the ward area.

Criteria for project funding

For any funding being provided the following criteria for applications will be used:

  • There must be an identifiable project.
  • The project must meet the purpose outlined above.
  • Organisations must demonstrate the ability to responsibly plan and administer the project.
  • Cannot be used for individuals.
  • Funding must not be used for exclusively personal economic gain.
  • Funding must support Council's objectives of achieving equity and fairness throughout the district.
  • Projects that are joint ventures with other organisations will be highly rated.

Please ensure that the application form is completed in full. Incomplete applications will be returned to you which may result in your application not meeting the required deadlines.

Important Dates

Teviot Valley and Maniototo Community Board: ​Applications for second round/balance of 2018/19 funding to be received no later than 11 October and these will be assessed at Board meetings in November and December.

Vincent Community Board and Cromwell Community Board: Applications are open now for projects in the 2019/20 year. These close 5pm 11 October.  These will be assessed at Board meetings in November and December.
