Temporary Road Closures for Events or planned infrastructure work
Below is where we will list upcoming events or activities that may cause delays and detours on the roads. This list will be updated regularly but will not include emergency work.

Temporary Partial Road Closure | 12 January 2021, 8.00am - until 29 January 2021, 6.00pm. If work finishes earlier the road will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so. | Caulfeild Street, Ranfurly - 150 m section of road to be closed from the intersection of Northland Street, SH85 heading west, which is in front of Maniototo Area School. If you require access to this section of road during this time, you will need to contact the Site Traffic Management Supervisor, Taane Royce on 021 720 162 |
Services Connection | 25 January to 5 February 2021. The road will be opened sooner if possible. | Shortcut Road, Cromwell, at the intersection of Lakeview Terrace be closed for road works in connection with the Wooing Tree subdivision. Access and exit for residents of Kowhai Place, Amber Close and Ash Lane will be via SH6. Access and exit to Roberts Drive, Lakeview Terrace, Partridge Road and Scott Terrace will be via SH8B. A signed detour route will be in place during this time. |
Poolburn Motorcycle Sprints Event | Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February 2021, 9am-5pm. Contingency day Monday 8 February. | Poolburn Moa Creek Road between Ida Valley Omakau Road and Nevill Lane. Detour via Moa Creek and Webster Lane. Any person objecting to the proposal can lodge their objection and reasons why in writing before 8 January 2021 at the office of the Central Otago District Council, 1 Dunorling Street, PO Box 122, Alexandra. |
Winter Road Conditions
Before you head off on your early morning commute or hop in the car on road trip this winter it pays to check in on the road conditions. Council's contractor Fulton Hogan issues daily road conditions reports over winter on the local CODC roading network.
You'll find these under the Reports button on The Central App. The reports are also broadcast on Radio Central and Maniototos Burn.
