The Central Otago District Council Draft Annual Plan 2014-15 opens for consultation tomorrow.
The plan will be released on Tuesday 1 April for public consultation, with copies and submission forms available at Council's main office and service centres and online.
The Annual Plan represents Year 3 of CODC's Long Term Plan (LTP) 2012-2022. Most of the budgets and projects for 2014/15 are as originally forecast in the LTP. There are a few new items within the draft budgets Council wishes to draw attention to and encourage feedback on in particular.
These include a provisional sum of $100,000 for track maintenance for district cycleways/walkways, $100,000 each for campervan effluent dump stations in Alexandra and Cromwell, an additional $60,000 for roadside spraying, and increased library operational costs.
The community is also invited to look through the activity sections within the plan to see some of the other challenges and projects for 2014/15 that have been highlighted.
Central Otago Mayor Tony Lepper said the year ahead would be "about rolling up our sleeves and getting on with business as usual, while at the same time getting geared up for our next Long Term Plan (2015-2025) and ensuring we bring our community with us in that planning process".
The Draft Plan as it stands proposes an average district rates increase of 3.4% for 2014/15 (down from the LTP forecast for Year 3 of 3.6%).
The public will have until 5pm, Thursday 1 May to make submissions.
