6 October 2018
The Molyneux Aquatic Centre will be closed for the week commencing Monday 15 October, reopening Saturday 20 October at 9am. This is to allow for contractors to work on the installation of seismic bracing on the air duct that runs the length of the centre. The work requires the whole length of both pools to be scaffolded, with the scaffolds being in the pool itself.
The work has been scheduled during the first week of Term 4 in response to community feedback to avoid school holiday closures in future where possible. The first week of term also causes least disruption to swim lesson schedules. Parents are reminded that lessons will start in Week 2 of the term for those attending Central Otago Swim School lessons in Alexandra.
The good news is the pool will be open for the Labour Weekend holiday and the weekend before the closure – Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 October – there will be half-price swim entry as part of the Central Otago Locals’ Weekend.
