Central Otago District Council has appointed Leanne Macdonald as its new Executive Manager Corporate Services.
Leanne Macdonald is a chartered accountant who has built an impressive career in both the private sector and local government. She will be coming to Central Otago from her position as Chief Financial Officer at Horizons Regional Council in Palmerston North. She was also formally the Manager of Business Services at Palmerston North Airport Ltd, a council-controlled organisation.
As Chief Financial Officer at Horizons Regional Council, Leanne has been critical to the development of a regional shared services model and has experience leading and presenting long term and annual plans. She also brings invaluable commercial experience that will ensure Central Otago District Council is thinking strategically about how it delivers the greatest value for money to its ratepayers.
Chief Executive Sanchia Jacobs is pleased to welcome Leanne to Central Otago.
"During her time in local government Leanne has developed both the leadership and financial acumen required to effectively lead the Corporate Services function at Central Otago District Council and ensure the delivery of those high value infrastructure projects we have committed to in the current 10-year plan. We are looking forward to welcoming her into the organisation and the executive team. The selection panel was unanimous in its support of Leanne and I am confident that she will bring an inclusive, people-focused management style to the role, and make a great contribution to Central Otago and the broader community."
Leanne and her husband Noel are both keen motorbike riders, mountain bikers and love the outdoors. They are looking forward to settling in the area and exploring the district's cycle ways.
Leanne is particularly excited to take up her new role with Central Otago District Council on 29 July 2019.
"My husband and I have always loved Central Otago and the great outdoor lifestyle it offers. To find a professional opportunity so well-matched to my skillset that also provides us the access to a way of life we have always wanted is an absolute delight. My son-in-law is from Ranfurly and has always sung the delights of his homeland, so we are truly excited to experience first-hand the beautiful sights and activities of this region."
