Facilities funding to make big difference to communities
Central Otago District Council has received Government funding of almost $39,000 towards four ‘town hall projects’ under the Provincial Growth Fund’s (PGF) Renovation of Community Town Halls and War Memorials scheme.
The four successful local projects are:
- Becks Memorial Hall – installation of a water filtration system
- Tarras Community Centre – heat pump installation
- Maniototo Rugby Clubrooms – reupholstering of 60 chairs
- Anderson Park Pavilion, Cromwell – replacement of storage facility doors.
Central Otago Mayor Tim Cadogan praised the work of Council’s Property Team.
“It was a short application process and the team did a fantastic job to move quickly on this and ensure we were successful in securing funding for these smaller ‘shovel ready’ projects.
“These four projects, while small on the scale of many of our Council projects, will make a big difference to the communities that use these facilities. These projects will also be undertaken by four small local businesses at a time where ‘support local’ is more important than ever.”
