Open Day planned at Lake Dunstan water treatment plant
The community will get a chance to take a closer look at the inner workings of the biggest infrastructure project Central Otago has seen for a generation, the Lake Dunstan Water Supply Scheme.
Later this month (November), the Central Otago District Council is holding a public open day at the treatment plant that supplies Clyde and Alexandra with an improved lime scale-free water supply.
Officially blessed in a special ceremony on a chilly day back in June, the Council promised the public a chance to tour the $16.1 million plant when the weather warmed up, and Capital Projects Programme Manager Patrick Keenan was pleased to be able to announce that day as 25 November at Clyde.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating what has been a challenging, and ultimately rewarding feat that has future-proofed the drinking water supply and meets national standards for the Clyde and Alexandra communities.”
All are welcome to attend the event on Saturday 25 November (10 am – 12 noon) for a brief tour of the plant.
“This will be a fantastic opportunity to share information with the community around how the treatment plant works to supply reliable and safe water,” Mr Keenan said.
Children are also welcomed and must be supervised by an adult.
