Heating issues at Cromwell Pool
Cromwell Pool facility has been experiencing some heating issues in recent weeks, and unfortunately a resolution has not been as straightforward as hoped.
Over the past three weeks, the facility has experienced major faults relating to the heating compressor system. Initial investigations identified issues with the circuit breaker and contactors associated with the heating system.
Specialist contractors were engaged immediately, with replacement parts ordered and air freighted to New Zealand to minimise delays. These new parts were installed on 21 May.
Unfortunately, following installation, the system fault reoccurred, indicating the issue is more complex than first identified. Contractors and technical specialists are continuing to investigate the root cause and are working together to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
David Scoones, Group Manager - Community Experience, appreciates this is frustrating for many and encourages patience from the community.
“Resolving this issue is a priority,” he said.
“The system is more complex and requires higher levels of maintenance than we expected when it was installed five years ago. We know this pool is really popular with our community, and so we’ve got staff and contractors working hard on it to get things back to normal as quickly as we can.
In the meantime, heating continues to be supplied to the pools through the gas heating system. While this is maintaining pool temperatures, the spa pool requires a higher operating temperature and has not yet returned to normal conditions.
Updates will be made on the Council website, dedicated pool website, and via social media when we expect things to be back to normal.
