The Wheels Up Community Bike Ambassador programme ran an additional catch-up day last Wednesday (21 August 2024) for those who missed Day 1 of the course on 10 August.
Nine people participated and they will join Day 2 this Saturday (31 August) to complete their course.
Central Otago District Council Road Safety Advisor Chris Foggin was thrilled with the level of participation.
“All up we have nine teachers (from four schools) and a further 16 community members
in the programme, and they come from different sectors of the community, which was the aim, including tour company operators, a GP, business owners, police staff and social ride group members.
“I’m keen to hear from others in the community deliver to another cohort if we get a response. This is more than just a bike course. This is community engagement, development and safety.”
