Millers Flat reserve proposal up for consideration
A proposal to redevelop the Millers Flat Recreation Reserve will go before the Central Otago District Council in September.
The Millers Flat Recreation Reserve Steering Group has plans to establish new courts on the Council-owned reserve on the old bowling green site, and in addition, build a bike pump track, as well as relocate and upgrade the playground to the rear of the war memorial.

As part of the development of the plans for the reserve, the steering group undertook engagement with the local community.
An update on the project was given at the Teviot Valley Community Board meeting yesterday (Thursday 31 July 2025), which approved the proposal that would now go to Council for consideration.
The group estimates the redevelopment cost would be in the vicinity of $664,000. Council has not been asked for any funding towards this project.
To date, the group has confirmed funding from third party funders of $419,500 and is hoping to secure the balance of funding from other sources to compete the full project as envisaged.
The former Millers Flat Bowling Club clubrooms sits outside this proposal. Through the Long-Term Plan 2025/34 deliberations, the building will be divested. Discussions will continue over divestment options for this building with the community.
