Bailey bridge assembly begins after Labour Weekend

If you’ve been on Graveyard Gully Road or on the Rivers Street Park (Linger and Die Reserve) in Alexandra lately, you’ll see that ground works are well and truly underway to establish the temporary Bailey bridge.

The temporary crossing over the Manuherekia River will be in place while refurbishment is carried out on the Little Valley Road bridge.

You will see more action around the Bailey Bridge after Labour Weekend, as it gets assembled and launched in stages across the river.

It will open prior to Christmas 2025, with the Little Valley Road bridge to close early January 2026.
