The Little Valley Road bridge will close from early March to allow the replacement of the timber deck and beams however, will remain open and available for use for suitable heavy vehicles, light vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists until construction commences.
The temporary cycling/pedestrian accessway to be built on the Little Valley Road Bridge and the Shaky Bridge footbridge will offer safe ways for people to get across the Manuherekia River, while the Bailey bridge is suitable for vehicles, including Class 1 heavy vehicles but has no facility for pedestrian access.
The Bailey bridge will remain in place for the duration of the project. Please be mindful of the new road layouts on Graveyard Gully Road and Walton St/Thompson St intersections where the give way priority has been changed. Speed restrictions will also be in place.
Parking will be limited on Walton and Thompson streets adjacent to the Linger and Die Reserve for the duration of the project for safety reasons. Parking will be reinstated once the project has been completed.
We will continue to keep the community updated as the project progresses.
