Fulton Hogan awarded contract to extend water supply on Dunstan Road
A new project is about to start following the signing of a contract between Fulton Hogan and Central Otago District Council for the Dunstan Road Water and Wastewater Reticulation Extension.
The project involves extending the reticulated water and wastewater network to service the area between Waldron Road and the current Molyneux Estate development along Dunstan Road in Alexandra. This is in response to Plan Change 19, approved in 2024, which rezoned land along the northern end of Dunstan Road from rural residential to large lot residential.
Patrick Keenan, Capital Projects Programme Manager, said the project is about looking ahead and preparing the network for future evolution.
“This work enables necessary housing growth in a key area of Alexandra, while simultaneously ensuring robust infrastructure for future residents who will rely on these essential services,” he said.
The work will involve installing a water supply pipeline between the Otago Central Rail Trail and Dunstan Road and allowing future connection to existing wastewater assets.
Fulton Hogan will begin the work in March 2026 and expect to complete it by June 2026.
“There may be some minor interruption to traffic flows at times along Dunstan Road, however most of the physical work will be fenced off and inaccessible to the public. We’ll provide regular updates to keep the public informed of our progress, and aware of potential disruptions,” said Mr Keenan.
