Objective Build
What are the benefits of moving to Objective Build?
Here are the best bits about Objective Build:
- It’s easier to apply for Building Consents, because all of your applications will be visible through a single logon, (even if lodged with different councils). You can also apply for Code Compliance Certificates (CCC), Certificates of Acceptance, Project Information Memorandums (PIM) and more.
- You can keep your team in the loop, by giving others access to view consents, track their status and be notified of relevant updates. You can also easily add and remove people to your organisation.
- You can track the status of a consent from start to finish and receive progress updates.
- Managing communications with councils is easy through Objective Build. You can receive and respond to Requests for Information (RFI’s) and upload any supporting information all in one single place, with the data instantly being sent to council when you hit submit.
- Collaboration tools are available to make different team members the primary owner for set stages (for example, the builder on site as the key contact for inspections), keeping everyone involved and informed.
- You can create Contact and Document Libraries, keeping all of your most common key contacts and consent templates in one place to save time.
What will happen with building consents that are lodged prior to 25 May 2026?
To minimise disruption, all active building consents (where a BC has been granted and Code Compliance Certificate has not yet been issued) will be migrated into Objective Build.
If you log in using the same email address previously used with Council, your active consents will appear on your dashboard.
If you are planning to submit an application close to the go-live date:
- Applications lodged before 18 May 2026 will continue to be processed in the current system. Between 18-25 May, Council will move paper applications into the new system.
- If your application is not urgent, we recommend waiting until Objective Build goes live so you can manage the entire process in one place.
- If you have a failed inspection or a pending Request for Further Information (RFI) on a building consent application, please resolve these items as soon as possible to help avoid delays during the system transition.
Will you still accept paper applications for building consents after 25 May 2026?
The majority of our building consents are already received electronically (by email). If you don’t have access to the internet, there are a few things you should consider:
- Can an agent submit the consent for you?
- Do you have a family member or friend that can help you, or who could submit the application on your behalf?
If you don’t have access to the internet nor have an email address and need to submit a paper application, please book a meeting with our building consent team in the Alexandra office, and we can assist you.
What if I am already registered with Objective Build through another council?
If you are already registered with Objective Build through another council, then you don’t need to register again. Just keep using your current login and when you select the address for the consent, the system will know what council to send the application to.
Who will use this system?
Objective Build is for:
- Builders
- Architects and designers
- Developers
- Homeowners
- Anyone applying for a building consent
Whether you’re a regular applicant or undertaking a one-off renovation, Objective Build will be introduced from 25 May 2026 as the main platform for lodging and managing building consent applications.
Who can I contact if I need help with the online application?
Your application can be saved at any time so you don’t lose your progress. If you get stuck, save your progress, check out the video tutorials then return to your application. Objective Build also has a help desk you can call which shows up when you are logged into the portal.
Can I book an inspection via the Objective Build portal?
To book an inspection, have your LBP number handy, then call 03 440 0056 or go online mycodc.codc.govt.nz
Remote inspections are coming soon. We'll share more details when they're available.
Am I able to see my consent in the portal if an agent has lodged it for me?
Yes. Your agent can invite you as a user to the consent. If you’ve requested access and haven’t received it, give Objective Build Support team a call on 0800 024 508 Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm or email build.support@objective.com.
You’ll be able to see all the same information as your agent.
