Road Signs

Damaged or Stolen Signs

If you notice a damaged or missing road sign, please contact us with the sign type and location. Standard signs like ‘Stop’ or ‘Give Way’ are usually in stock and can be replaced promptly. Other signs may take longer if they need to be custom-made.

Private Signs

Signs on private lanes or rights-of-way are the responsibility of the property owners. Council can arrange repairs or replacements via a contractor, but all costs will be charged to the owners.

Directional Signage for Community Organisations and Tourist Attractions

Directional signs (fingerboards) may be approved for public amenities like schools, churches, community halls or tourist attractions when standard street signs are insufficient.

The destination must:

• serve the wider community, or
• attract regular visitors unfamiliar with the area

The fingerboard wording must be generic, e.g. winery, motel.

If approved, Council manages installation and maintenance of the fingerboard. The installation costs are the responsibility of the applicant.
